I'm looking to put home movies on my Tivo for my family to watch. PC -> DVR They're not tech savvy so it has to be transferred onto the Tivo (not streamed) and look like any other video. Videora does this but only supports SD, 720x480 max. I've been reading forums for hours and going cross eyed.
What I've done so far... 1) I converted some videos to MPEG2 (Avidemux/ffmpeg) and transferred them to the Tivo with Tivo Desktop but (I'm assuming) because they didn't have the proper Tivo formatting, I don't have the ability to fast forward or reverse them. 2) I used Videora Tivo Converter and gained the ability to FF and REV but lost quality.
I've heard that kmttg is good at pulling video off Tivo and pyTivo is good at putting them on Tivo but I read a description that pyTivo streams video which I don't want. And, of course, there is always Tivo Desktop Plus but I don't know if it supports HD (1280×720 is good enough) and don't want to pay $15 to see or find out some other limitation that's annoying.
Thanks
