I am completely new to the world of ripping videos for streaming over the network and need some help. I have had TiVos for a while (currently have 3 Premiers and 2 Mini's but have a new Roamio and another Mini on the way) but I have recently decided to start using the DLNA capability of my Netgear ReadyNAS Ultra 6 to store ripped copies of movies I own for streaming to the Premiers. I purchased a copy of Pavtube Blu-ray Ripper for ripping the movies and it seems like a very capable piece of software but the problem I need help with is...I have no idea which format I should rip the movies to that will allow them to be played on both Premiers and Windows 8 devices. My first try was MPEG-4 HD Video (mp4). The movie worked great on my Windows 8 devices but the TiVo Premier would not see it on the NAS. I had placed it on the NAS in a folder with the movie's name. The Premier saw the folder but did not see the movie in the folder (said there were 0 items in the folder).
